Back Down?? Never!!

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

“The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and his Christ. For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together.” –Acts 4:26-27

Jesus Christ was the toughest person that ever walked this earth. He was mild and meek, loving and kind, but he also single-handedly opposed the wicked rulers of this world. The verse above says that it was Jesus vs. Hell, Herod, Pontius Pilate, the Gentile world, and the Jewish World. In other words, that doesn’t really leave anyone who wasn’t against Jesus. But Christ knew he was the power of God unto salvation. He was the world’s only hope so he didn’t back down when severely opposed and outnumbered. He is the epitome of boldness and it was this daring courage that made a way for our salvation.

From this point forward, let’s not back down when the world threatens us. They may call us radicals, stupid, uneducated, weird, weak, etc, BUT we are the ones who have the power of God unto salvation (Rom. 1:16). When you feel like the world is trying to push you around with its threats… push back with prayer, boldness, and a confidence that at anytime you could demonstrate a power that would shut their mouths and send them back to the drawing board. It’s in you to be bold! Don’t back down! Your daddy is bigger than all the bullies in this world!

Prayer:
“And now Lord, behold their threats and grant unto me and the rest of the body of Christ BOLDNESS. I am asking for the same unshakeable confidence that Christ displayed when he was pressured to quit. I will not back off, back down, or back up. Use me to display the power of your Kingdom today and let every mouth that opposes the gospel be shut. Fill me with a fresh anointing of your Spirit and a fresh touch of grace so that with great power I may give witness of your resurrection to a lost world. In the name of Jesus, Amen.” (Acts 4:29-33)

They Are Waiting For Us!

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” -Romans 8:19

Do you like waiting for things? If you are like me, waiting is an uncomfortable and irritating process. Lines at the drive-thru, traffic jams, and holding during telephone calls are just some of the things I wish I could totally do away with. Because I know the grief of wasting time in these kinds of situations, I do my best to be efficient so people are never waiting on me.

Paul tells us in Romans 8:19 that a sick and dying world is waiting for the Church to rise to its fullest potential. This means that the longer we decide to play around in the world, the longer the world is going to have to wait for its problems to be solved. The next time you are contemplating on blending with the status quo of society, remember that you aren’t just hurting yourself; you are prolonging the deliverance of those around you. Today let’s make a commitment to be like Moses by forsaking the allurements and temptations of the society around us. When we make this lifestyle a practice, we will be the ones to release those in the world from their positions of captivity. The people in our world are waiting. Let’s step up and deliver!

Prayer:
“Father, in the name of Jesus, I recognize the people I come in contact with today are desperately in need of the anointing on my life. The time is short and the need is great. Open up opportunities all around me to be salt and light. I desire to display the power of God and live a life that is supernatural. May I never take the hurting for granted. Instead, let compassion move me to step out and deliver those who cross my path. My life is a conductor of heaven’s power and I expect to see the results of a consecrated life today. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!”
